Educational Cabinet On Seabirds

Educational cabinet on seabirds. (England, circa 1900). Wooden chest, format 150 cm wide, 101 cm high, 33 cm deep. The front face, open, is protected by a window. Inside are arranged sixteen naturalized birds. Educational chart from an English college to show pupils the seabirds of southern England: seagulls, gulls, terns, gulls... Each bird, naturalized, is in flight or perched on a rock - in paper mache ! – to recreate the natural situation as closely as possible. Spectacular set that was to make students dream whose spirit soared above the dark and agitated waves of the English Channel.
