"Little Boy In Capri By Bernardo Hay"
Work signed Bernardo Hay, Italian artist born in Florence in 1864, from a family of English artists. His mother Jane Benham Hay, was an important figure in the Pre-Raphaelite movement in England, his father William Hay was also renowned. Bernardo Hay was a pupil in Naples of Saverio Altamura. He took part in the salons in Milan, Turin and Rome from 1883, and settled around 1889 in Capri. It was probably on this island that he made this charming portrait of a little boy.
