Trade Showcase In Brass And Mahogany flag

Object description :

"Trade Showcase In Brass And Mahogany"
Showcase in brass and mahogany.
It rests on four brass feet with glides, has a mahogany plinth intended to let nothing pass under the piece of furniture. This piece of furniture has a complete frame in polished brass which frames the whole. The fronts and shelves are entirely made of custom-cut glass, they include 2 "Pollards Pat" sliding doors as well as 2 glass shelves. A mirror lines the bottom of the cabinet to give it a nice depth effect. Storage unit intended by its size to be placed as a counter or chest of drawers, the quality of its materials evokes a world where the accessory was treated with luxury and intended to demonstrate the durability of things. If the piece of furniture is English, we will find there a universe – certainly fantasized – where Jeeves and Hercule Poirot or other Mrs. Dalloway evolve… We will also think of V. Larbaud’s “Poor blouse”. The fashion for department stores developed in Europe from the middle of the 19th century along two axes, one oriented towards consumption which was certainly not mass, the other even more elitist. Where once again the shopkeeper had to go to his customer in person and offer him an assortment, like the craftsman - bootmaker, tailor, etc. - the customer comes to the shopkeeper who does everything possible to attract him. These reports, reversed, oblige the latter to adapt his "store", we no longer speak of a shop... (the very term of store, of Arabic origin, moreover designated a place of storage, a warehouse.) which must seduce by presenting all the possible choices between price and quality, in a flattering presentation for the product but also for the customer. The “pleasure-purchase” effect works to the full. We offer you here something to store and display your belongings or goods, when you had time to choose, not on a shelf, but by feeling, feeling, looking at the materials, when all the senses participated in an "investment".
