Chest Italy Walnut XVIth Century Northern Italy Alps
Artist: Anonyme
I present to you this pretty chest, for an enlightened amateur, it has what seems to me to be its original patina. It was simply varnished at a later time. Walnut is a beautiful walnut from the south. The cover and the facade are of a single board. It is at least 400 years old. For the plinth, I don't really know, everything indicates that it is original, but it could have been changed in the 18th century; only problem; it is made of oak wood. The decorations of the plinth seem in an alpine style. Beautiful old piece of furniture, including the lock which seems old but not at all original.
