A cut of daily life set in the 19th century, takes us back in time in a scene that offers the feeling of a lost serenity. The beautiful colors of the painting combine to create an idyllic atmosphere of joy and lightness. The author, evidently endowed with an excellent hand, describes in an excellent way a group of laundresses busy washing clothes on the banks of a river which flows under an arched bridge. The sheets are hung in the sun to dry on a line. Splendid games of shadows and lights with the illuminated village and the bridge against the light, give the landscape a volume of great effect. The pictorial style, in the style of the end of the 18th century, still totally free from the innovations of the 19th century, is close to the landscaping of Giuseppe Canella (Verona, July 28, 1788 - Florence, September 11, 1847). who created in the first half of the century a series of exquisite representations of rural and urban views. The paint is in excellent condition.
