Excellent condition

A large, splendid oil painting on canvas, an authentic work by Carlo Antonio Tavella.

Indeed, there is no doubt regarding its attribution to the great master of Genoese landscape painting, who in this important work beautifully captures all his distinctive painterly qualities.

The lively and delicate brushwork, the distinctive and characteristic color palette, and the inimitable scenic composition all come together here to showcase his finest work. The work demonstrates remarkable painterly and descriptive skill and stands out unequivocally from works of uncertain attribution.

The scene depicts a shepherd returning with his flocks as a storm approaches.

The village in the background is still illuminated by the last rays of the sun.

A bolt of lightning strikes the woods, and the flash of lightning on the smoking branches is a signature touch of the Master, who signs his name in this way in other large-scale works.

This is an important work of the highest caliber, which, in addition to its indisputable painterly quality, offers an extremely pleasing and easily adaptable composition that looks excellent on the wall.

The written expert appraisal by Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri confirms the painting’s high quality.

The canvas is in excellent condition and comes complete with a beautiful antique gilded frame decorated with palmette and neoclassical motifs.
