Antique Castellani Jewelled Gold Brooch

We have the pleasure to present you this amazing Castellani brooch in 18K Gold well decorated with different perfectly fine filigree motifs also on back. Set with foiled cabochon of emeralds, rubies, purple and blue sapphire all in raised gold collets. Moreover is decorated with pearls. The two arches are topped with pliquè-a-jour enamel and contains the two gold cloisonné enamelled figures of the annunciation ( the Virgin Maria and the Angel ). The brooch is a stylized M from the name of Maria. On the back up and down is signed with the Castellani monogram ( the two opposite C ) in circular reserves. This Masterpiece of the Castellani workshop was done in Rome and presented at London Universal Exibition of 1862 with enormous success in the media of that time. 18K Gold. It is in perfect condition.
