"Louis XVI Chiffonier, Stamped Canabas"
Chiffonier from the Louis XVI period in mahogany veneer and high quality solid mahogany, on an oak frame. It opens with six drawers separated by crosspieces, Amounts with fluted cut sides. Grooved Sainte-Anne gray marble top. Stamp of J. CANABAS and hallmark "JME" Dimensions: Height: 144 cm Width: 64 cm Depth: 38.5 cm (Very good original condition) Condition report and technical photographs on request. Joseph GENGENBACH dit CANABAS (171261797), German cabinetmaker, he moved to Paris in the early 1740s, then married in 1745. He worked for a long time as a privileged worker on Rue de Charonne for the workshops of Jean-François Oeben T DE Pierre Migeon , before gaining mastery on April 1, 1766. A specialist in small mahogany furniture, he is recognized for the perfection of his cabinetmaking and the exceptional quality of the mahogany he uses.
