Cigar Box, Arms Of The Duke Of Aosta And Princess Claude Of France, Sterling Silver 1891
Extremely rare sterling silver cigar box with the hallmarks of the City of London for the year 1891. It is engraved with the arms of the Duke of Aosta and Princess Claude of France, daughter of the Count of Paris. Legendary couple who made the headlines of all the newspapers during their romance which began at the wedding of Juan-Carlos of Spain and Sophie of Greece in Athens in 1962. It was offered to the newlyweds on June 22, 1964 by a lady who had "Aunt Iza" engraved on the front of the object. It is probably Isabelle d'Orléans (1900-1983) sister of the Count of Paris, wife of Count Bruno d'Harcourt then of Prince Pierre Murat.
