Superb and large ceramic / iridescent black glazed earthenware tile.

Relief decoration called "with flags", with banners, Arms of France: 3 fleur-de-lis representing the 3 Orders of society - the Nobility, the Clergy and the Third Estate, surmounted by the Crown of France symbolizing the monarchy, cannons and musical instruments.

This royalist or counter-revolutionary decoration (often classified in the wrong way among the revolutionary decorations of French ceramics) is often and traditionally associated with the FONTENOY battle in 1745.

"The Battle of Fontenoy is a clash of the Austria Succession War which took place on May 11, 1745 near Fontenoy in the Austrian Netherlands (present-day Belgium) and ended in a French victory. The war follow and was result of the Tournai city (April-June 1745). "
