Portico Clock With Sphinges And Caryatids From Directoire Period End XVIIIth
Large portico clock (60 cm) from the Directoire period in white marble. The decoration and the quality of the bronzes are superb. The terrace is decorated with an antique bas relief with a scene of Clodion's puttis. The 2 porticoes are Egyptian caryatids in term. Very nice draped under movement. 2 sphinxes with brown patina wings on the upper terrace and finally an eagle slaying a snake on a rock. The gilding and chasing are of very good quality with matt and shine. wire movement signed on its Bergmiller à Paris dial.
