The Virgin protects the two entwined children with her gaze, her body and her hand. Saint John the Baptist, dressed in a veil, stands above the lamb The child Jesus is naked on a cloth, leaning on the knees of the Blessed Virgin. Saint Joseph has a meditative attitude. In the foreground on the right, a broken column pfigures the fate of Christ.
