Léopold Carl Müller (1834 -1884) is an Austrian painter, designer and orientalist. Very young, he worked in Vienna in the studio of his father who was a lithographer, then was a student of k. Blaas.
He became director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. It was during the winter of 1873 1874 that he made the first of his nine stays in Egypt, in the Balkan countries and in Turkey, he then devoted himself to painting scenes of oriental customs.
His design lacks neither elegance nor correctness. He was an excellent colourist and his light effects are greatly appreciated.
