Nostradamus Barometer Of Silvered Bronze.
Humorous barometer composed of a sea green marble plinth, with an ogee on three ball feet, supporting a drum dial designated with the index finger by a gilded bronze Nostradamus on which it is perched. The bronze, full, is signed A. Loir. Holosteric mechanism with one Vidie capsule. This bronze is sometimes deprived of its barometer to be abusively presented as a car mascot. It is a diversion. Its sole destiny is the ornamental use which is made here, with the hand of the prophet showing the weather to come. The telescope seems to have been redone. Weight: 2.8 kg. Period 1910-1930.
