Hand-knotted silk Ghom (Iran) carpet of dimensions 1.90 x 1.30 meters. Tying density: 800,000 stitches per m2. The city of Qom or Koum is located 150 km south of Tehran not far from Daryacheh-ye Namak, a large salt basin, at the crossroads of the roads of Kachan, Arak and Isfahan. It is the oldest holy city of Shia Islam. Qom Natural Silk is world famous for its superior quality. The decoration of these rugs is diverse and is inspired by classic motifs from the largest Persian cities (Isfahan, Tabriz, Kachan, Sérabend). We thus find the Boteh motif, floral decorations, medallions, hunting scenes, etc.
