Kazak, Karatchop, South-West Caucasus Circa 1875
Karachov Kazak : A fairly famous and rarely found type of design, generally attributed to the Armenian weavers of the high mountains of the Caucasus.

The best Karachov rugs (also spelled Karachoph) are stunning antique oriental rugs from the 19th century, which are the most difficult to locate and highly regarded by collectors of antique rugs. The most notable 19th century Karachov Kazak carpet designs include an octagonal or elongated rectangular medallion flanked by elemental cruciform designs, containing the "Star of Wisdom" designs.
All designs placed in the best antique Caucasian carpets of the 19th century are intentionally woven misshapen and playfully asymmetrical
