The analyzed painting, representing a view of a lake, is signed lower left by Karl Rudolf Hugo Jonas, landscape painter , born in Goldapp in 1822 and died in Berlin in 1888. Jonas was educated at the Academy of Königsberg, where he was a pupil of Behrendsen. He worked in Munich in 1851. From the following year to 1854 he taught in Danzig. He then returned to Munich and eventually settled in Berlin. Jonas visited the Alps, traveled to northern Italy and Corsica. He particularly liked to paint nocturnal landscapes. The work of Jonas in question is characterized by the brilliance and brilliance of the colors used. The view, taken from an embankment in the foreground, sees in the center the representation of a village with a few bell towers. In the background rise the snow-capped mountains, separated from the village by a light mist.
