Mechanical wool carpet, made in imitation of a needlepoint-style rug, typical of 19th-century production. The design is printed on a soft fabric, intended to replicate the look of handcrafted embroidery while benefiting from the technical advances of the time. This type of moquette, often found in bourgeois interiors of the 19th century, reflects the rise of mechanized textile manufacturing in Europe, particularly in France, where workshops flourished as early as the 17th century under the influence of figures like Colbert.
The condition is very good: the colors remain vivid and stable, with no major alterations. A few minor flaws are visible (see last photos), but they do not affect the clarity of the pattern or the overall quality of the piece.
