Important Art Deco clock representing "The Amazon" by the Russian sculptor G. Lavroff for Georgij Dmitrievic Lavrov aka Georghe Lavrov (1895-1991).
George Lavrov, Russian painter, sculptor, designer and decorator.
Lavrov was born in Siberia in 1895.
He first produced these works in Siberia and then in Moscow. In 1921, he was sent to France where he created many Art Deco animal sculptures. Lavrov's sculptures, drawn in bronze and ceramic by publishers, will make his reputation in the West.
Returning to Moscow in 1935, George Lavrov became an official artist and created monumental sculptures and busts of Soviet leaders.
Lavrov died on August 29 in 1991.
