"Large Chandelier - Nineteenth Sanctuary Lamp (h: 1 M 40)"
Important chapel chandelier known as a sanctuary lamp from the mid-19th century (very probably Charles X) presenting a Neo-Gothic style structure entirely in finely chiseled gilt bronze with an architectural shape depicting a large basin animated with openwork and trefoil naturalistic motifs supported by three chain links with spherical and polylobed gripping rings ending at the top with a bail in the shape of a count's crown with lotiform foliage, the lower part is garnished with acanthus leaves and a ringed pine cone topped with rosettes and knots of turbulent ribbons. Good condition and beautiful gilding, the interior is formerly electrified by two large format screw points of light. Dimensions: 1.40m high X 60cm wide. The new religious impetus given to the 19th century was affirmed by the construction of numerous churches and allowed the rediscovery of the Gothic style and its rich architectural lexicon. This trend also manifested itself in painting and the decorative arts. This chandelier of a beautiful quality and a complex structure is a true testimony of this liturgical development.
