Exceptional two-strand coral necklace in a rare "oxblood" color.
Origin: Sardinia.
This type of coral is extremely rare in the Mediterranean Sea in the 21st century.
Outer strand length: 47 cm with a 9mm center bead. Inner strand length: 44 cm. 9mm center bead.
Gold olive clasps with safety hooks (0.65 g x 2).
At once mineral, vegetable, and animal, red coral (oxblood) is considered in mythology to represent the blood of Medusa, beheaded by Perseus.
Since Medusa had the power to petrify, coral was attributed the ability to coagulate blood. Today, this red coral is truly very rare; its growth is very slow, and it is impossible to find large branches suitable for cutting large beads.
