Terracotta Statue Fertility Idol Amlash Persia Circa 1st Millennium Bc
Superb female terracotta stetopyge statue representing a fertility idol, AMALSH culture (Persia, North Iran), circa 1st millennium BC
The sculpture has 2 bronze or brass ear rings with brown patina.
The AMLASH sculptures are always the object of a particular stylization; The statue is hollow (opening above the head), with broad legs and exaggerated thighs, large rounded buttocks protruding behind, small breasts between angular shoulders, a long neck with a discal face and a pointed nose, ears prominent openings, all decorated with incised lines like scarifications;
To be compared in particular with a similar piece from the Claude and Jeanne VERITE collection.
See also another of my announcements relating to a stylized horse, with again very powerful legs.
Sizes: 27cm height * 15 width and 10cm depth
Perfect condition (a small lack at the foot of one of the legs)
Very beautiful excavation patina
