"A Larroux, Siot, Large Signed Pewter Vase, XIXth Century"
Large pewter vase with dark patina representing a man and two women during the harvest: the man is standing, drinking, one of the women is breastfeeding her child and the second is harvesting the wheat. The neck is decorated with sheaves of wheat.
Vase signed Larroux and bearing the Siot-Fondeurs stamp
Antonin Larroux (1859-19312) is a French sculptor who regularly participated in the Salon des Artistes Français where he was awarded several medals; one of his favorite subjects was peasant life (he sculpted many "sower", "gleaner" and other "grape harvesters" ...)
