Oil on canvas signed lower right Stevens, which is a contemporary cover of Jean Beraud and counterpart with another canvas by the same artist "Le theater de Vaudeville" for sale on our gallery. The two paintings are shown together in the last photo. Place de la Madeleine, at the corner of rue Royale, the Durand house that can be seen on the left is the restaurant where Zola wrote his manifesto "J'accuse" which will appear in L'Aurore on January 13, 1898, four years after the wrongly condemnation of Captain Dreyfus for espionage.
