"Gold And Stone Snuff Box, Circa 1750, Probably Saxony Or Prussia"
Splendid Louis XV snuff box in carved semi-precious stone and solid gold mounts. The stone was selected for its particular design which resembles a rocky landscape with plants and for its magnificent colors. The lapidary sculpted this magnificent semi-precious stone in a typically Baroque shape. On one edge of the frame are two more recent check punches. The work and the style of the box place it in the traditions of the snuff boxes of the region of Saxony or Prussia in thé second half of thé eighteenth century.
