"Directory Clock: Africa"
Beautiful Africa clock attributed to Jean-Simon Deverberie. In black, brown and gold patinated bronze, symbolizing Africa. The round dial has a guilloché outline, white enamel, Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the quarters, and Paris is inscribed in the lower part. The original design of the clock, titled L'Afrique, was registered by the Parisian foundry chaser Jean-Simon Deverberie in An VII (illustrated in Dominique and Pascal Flechon, “La pendule au nègre”, in Bulletin de l'association nationale des collectionneurs .
