Louis -philippe Golden Mirror With Fronton (105 Cm X 70 Cm)
It was common during the 30 years that saw the birth and growth of Louis-Philippe mirrors to mix styles. From the Middle Ages to Napoleon the first, the reign of Napoleon III brought them all back in the spotlight with great creative freedom. The gilder did not hesitate (probably at the request of the client) to make a pediment worthy of Versailles. Louis XV style, the latter includes all the decorative ornaments in use: quiver and arrow, torch and ribbon, asymmetrical shell, laurel branch and garland of flowers. Its patinated gilding brings out an old mirror with a nicely pitted complexion.
