Chachemire Shawl - Napoleon III
19th century cashmere shawl decorated with volutes, stylized flowers and palmettes in coral, red, blue, white and black tones, black reserve loaded with palmettes. Fringes at the ends
Brought back from the Egyptian campaign by Bonaparte's officers at the end of the 18th century, the shawl became an essential element of the female wardrobe of high society throughout the 19th century. Both used as clothing and as decoration, it was a symbol of social success.
If in Europe the cashmere shawl is a purely feminine accessory, in India, its country of origin, it is reserved for men, who wear it as a belt or turban.
Good condition, some holes should be noted, beautiful colors
