Fire Helmet Napoléon III.

Entirely in brass, gadroon crest with flaming bomb mask, surmounted by a black horsehair caterpillar. Front plate in stamped brass with oak branches and ears of wheat, with in its center two crossed axes and flaming pomegranate, surmounted by the eagle of the second empire. Movable visor embossed with two crossed axes, flaming pomegranate and two branches of oak leaves. It is covered with leather. Brass neck cover edged with a rush with oak leaves. Brass chinstrap stamped with a block of relief scales and round rosettes stamped with raised gadroons, with velvet interior. Square section plume holder with tubular shape, decreasing downwards. Complete with its clamping screw. Internal cap made up of a waxed leather headband topped with an ecru canvas headdress. Total height of the helmet with track 35 cm. Scarlet-colored fine horsehair plume, H 24 cm. Very good general condition of period conservation, with traces of gilding.
