"Rare Senoufo Male Statuette - Ivory Coast"
Rare Senufo divination figurine in semi-hard wood with nuanced black patina. Male, she stands erect, her hands clasped around the navel (note their horizontal position), her face topped with 4 side quilts, an amulet around the neck, her feet resting on a circular base. Belonging to a fairly small corpus, this statuette can be compared to a figure sold at sothesby's on December 12, 2012, lot 76. I am attaching the photo of the catalog as well as the screed. Period: early 20th Provenance: ex collection from Lyon. Sold with a base.
