Statue representing the famous "Frileuse" by Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912, this artist was particularly renowned for his decorative statues. Trained in the workshops of Jules Ramey and Auguste Dumont. He won the second prize of Rome in 1842 and exhibited at Salon of French artists from 1848. He collaborated from 1849 to 1879 with the foundry of Val d'Osne, he provided on this occasion many models for the edition of decorative sculptures sold as well to a private client as to towns or cities. institutions (Fountains known as Tourny de Bordeaux ...) Our statue has a beautiful medal patina. Signed Math. Moreau on the terrace. Circa 1900. Good condition.
