Etienne Jeaurat 1699-1789 A gallant scene in a historical atmosphere oil on canvas (mounted on wood) 61 x 75 cm (image size) Étienne Jeaurat (* February 9, 1699 in Paris; † December 4, 1789 in Versailles) was a French painter and engraver. Jeaurat was a pupil of Nicolas Vleughels, who took him to Rome in 1724. He began with mythological images, but later he was mainly interested in the contemporary representation of morality. In his photos he described the moving 18th century Parisian street scene. His still lifes are partly reminiscent of Jean Siméon Chardin. He created great history paintings, religious paintings and some portraits. Jeaurat is represented with his works in many French museums, as well as in Oxford, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Dublin, mainly with chalk drawings. Inv.n ° 1.155 3.375 €
