"David Bronze Winner By Henri Plé"
David triumphing over the giant Goliath, inspired by a biblical episode this bronze statue signed Henri Plé was produced towards the end of the XIXth century (between 1885 and 1900) it was produced at that time by the Societé des Bronzes de Paris (cast iron stamp) ). Beautiful state of presentation with its original patina (age wear), a lot of realism brought by a fine carving in the details. Active in Paris, Henri Honoré Plé (1853/1922) having had Mathurin Moreau as professor, member of the Society of French Artists, he received numerous awards by presenting historical or mythological subjects at the Salon from 1877 to 1914 as well as at the 'Universal Exhibition of 1900.
