Carl Reichert, born on August 27 1836 in Vienna, was an Austrian lithographer, landscape and animal painter. He studied painting in Graz before continuing his studies at the academy of fine arts in Munich, followed by a stay in Rome. Upon his return to Austria he painted urban scenes and animals, specializing more particularly in the production of portraits of dogs and cats. In 1874 he became a member of the "Wiener Künstlerhaus" where he exibited. Reichert's works can be seen in the Neue Galerie Graz and in many private collections and museums.
