Irénée Rochard (1906-1984) is an animal sculptor. Born in Villefranche Sur Saône, Rochard is part of a family of artists with a painter mother and a brother who will become an actor and singer. He followed the path of his family and quickly became a student of Fine and Decorative Arts in 1924, for four years. His orientation quickly materialized, with a passion for animal sculpture to "pay tribute to animals," he says. The artist obtains various prices and distinctions. His first prize is for a life-size Panther, which he obtains immediately after leaving school.
