Small baliflora vase in cloisonné enamel on copper with polychrome decoration on a navy blue background of a plum blossom surrounded by various iris and other flowers. under the base an embossed mark: Daïkichi.
Japan Meiji period.
This cloisonné vase was made in the Ohta Cloisonne workshop, based in Aichi prefecture. Its trade name is known as Daikichi. Ohta Saneemon set up the cloisonné workshop in 1887 (Meiji 20), in the city of Ama, Aichi prefecture. His son, known as Daikichi II (Ohta Tamekazu), succeeded him in 1921 (Taisho 10). The latter's son, known as Daikichi III (Ohta Masao), succeeded in 1950 (Showa 25).
This vase style is typical of the first productions of the late 19th century.
