Sword cane with guard. Opening system called "A quarter turn". By turning the knob a quarter of a turn, this unlocks the opening and allows the sword to be pulled out. A spring guard then deploys to protect the hand. The blade is engraved and marked Tolèdo, it is also marked with the famous arms manufacture of Saint Etienne with the inscription in relief "Manufacture française d'armes et cycles de Saint Etienne". The arms factory of Saint Etienne was created in 1764 and was very successful in the second half of the nineteenth century, it was at this time that our sword cane was manufactured. "Milord knob" in silver, ring also engraved in silver. The blade is 27,16 inches long and the entire cane is 35,82 inches long. Usual wear. A similar model can be seen in Catherine Dike's reference book “system canes, a fabulous and unknown world” on page 261. France (Spain blade), late 19th century.
