Pair Of Angels In Carved Wood XVIIth (l 102 Cm)
This pair of cherubs is a 17th century work. Of good size, they are very decorative.
Sculpted in force in wood (probably oak?), They are nevertheless filled with sweetness with their rounded and chubby forms, their calm face and their hair with long curls. The anatomy is well restored and makes them very alive. In motion, each with an outstretched arm, they give a real impetus.
One holds a drapery, the other no longer has it (missing).
This pair is in good condition with old consolidations and re-bonding. Wear and cracks due to time: cracks, small gaps and chips. One angel is missing a finger and the other angel's drapery. Nails and hooks on the back. Dimensions (from the angel to the horizontal W 103 cm / H 62 cm for one and 74 cm for the other)
