Dolphin Barometer, Louis XVI
Carved and gilded wooden dolphin barometer. End of the Louis XVI period. 18th century. Dial signed Godot Opticien, quai de l'Horloge 23 in Paris, surmounted by a fire pot flanked by 2 dolphins on the shoulder. The base has a mercury thermometer housed in a molded frame, on which a drape rests. Carved from a single panel. No missing. Has its mercury tube whose level is to be replenished. Missing the counterweight at the back. Some wear on the gilding.
