Bressane Wardrobe Chapeau De Gendarme
Bressane wardrobe with gendarme hat in cherry and ash. The place of manufacture of this very richly decorated wardrobe can be located between Bourg en Bresse and Sainte Croix en Bresse, a veritable melting pot for the creation of Bressans cabinetmakers. Note the quality of the ironwork using steel and brass,the finesse of the carving and the perfect condition of this piece of furniture that one would think had just come out of the cabinetmaker's workshop. The presence of a marine anchor perhaps indicates the profession of the person for whom this probably wedding armoire was intended.
