Important bronze sculpture after Michelangelo representing Laurent de Medici with brown patina. Michelangelo's work was produced for the tomb of Laurent de Médicis at San Lorenzo in Florence. This sculpture symbolizes the ideal of the perfect Renaissance man, and the Barbedienne House reproduces here a masterpiece from antiquity. Founder's stamp: VAN AERSCHODT BRUXELLES Beginning of activities: the first mention of this foundry on a public monument dates from 1885. Nevertheless, the Van Aerschodt family belongs to what should be called a dynasty of bronze founders well known in Belgium. End of activities: 1939.
