"Ancient Karabakh Carpet, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Early 20th Century"
CARPET Karabakh (Caucasus, Armenia) Azerbaijan, from the end of the 19th century, see the beginning of the 20th century. In wool on cotton, hand-knotted in a tight knot for about 160 000 knots in the M2.
A large dark green field, drawing towards the midnight blue and black accommodates 14 large vases, two of which contain only the base, in shimmering colors, orange, yellow, red, pale green, or a multitude of oeIlllets (symbol of beauty, youth, renewal, hope, and peace) escape and dot the rest of the field unharmed.
These very elaborate and classic vases decorated with palmettes and arabesques have for each of them, two large handles and are there, not without reminding us of the Persian style and its influence very present in this work, Iran is close to this region.
A great cheerfulness emerges from this carpet, due to the liveliness of the colors.
The single, relatively narrow border, 12 cm, is decorated with 130 eyelets on the perimeter which stand out from a red or orange background according to the knotter's desire.
Eyelets composed of 12 petals alternate white and red. Each flower in succession, one of the other also alternates the color of their pistil, passing from yellow to orange, to orange and yellow, all this is a concern of good reading of the objects and the flowers composing this marvelous carpet, In very good shape.
The fringes are short and clean.
This carpet has been cleaned professionally and ecologically.
