Large armchair in lacquered and gilt beech, from the Palais de Compiègne and stamped Jacob D Rue Meslée, Empire period.
Upholstered in a golden yellow leather and decorated with a small iron. If the inventory number of 1817 was "erased", the inventory of 1855 states "C5307 - two armchairs wood and fabric similar to No. 5306 (which corresponds to a)" bergere painted wood, turned feet, feather tile, covered with striped yellow velvet, gold braid and studs. "This pair of armchairs was then in the bedroom of apartment No. 54 on the 2nd floor of the palace, which was sold by the palace in 1884. The stamp Jacob D Rue Meslée was used between 1803 and 1813.

We warmly thank Mr. Étienne GUIBERT, Heritage Curator, in charge of the historic apartments of the Palais de Compiègne, for his invaluable assistance.
