Feodor Petrovich says Theodore Tchoumakoff was born in St. Petersburg in 1823, died in Paris in 1911, after having been a pupil at St. Petersburg Theater from 1834 to 1840, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts where he was Professor PV. Basin. From 1857 until his death Tchoumakoff lived practically without interruption in Paris exclusively painting portraits of young women in the style of Greuse.
