Delicate and large 17th century painting, representing a lady of quality. Our subject is dressed in a blue dress embroidered with fine lace decorated with butterfly wings. The unique attribute of a breastplate worn in the breastplate suggests that our elegant is portrayed not in a minerva but in the spirit of a theatrical performance. Our actress wears a necklace with two rows of pearls and a stole of red taffeta that compliments the whole. By the fashion of the hairstyle, it is advisable to situate this table in the years 1690-1695. It was indeed at this moment that the hairstyle began to be returned in large locks on the top of the head, releasing the front adorned with two hook-hearts arranged symmetrically. Our painting dates from the end of the 17th century, around 1690. Its realization evokes the entourage of François de Troy. It is presented in its beautiful carved wooden frame of Louis XIV, having preserved a gilding of matt and brilliant origin. (cartridge falsely attributed to Jouvenet the Younger.) Presence on the chassis of an old label annotated 'Mr. Rabeau' and another annotated 'Mr. Vergé' A red wax stamp mentioning an old collection is also affixed on the back). Oil on canvas (82 cm x 65 cm) and its frame (100.5 cm x 84.5 cm). Literature François de Troy (1645 - 1730) comes from a family of artists. His father Nicolas, already a painter, taught him his art. Under the reign of Louis XIV, he was one of the great portraitists of his time alongside Hyacinthe Rigaud and Nicolas de Largillière. The artistic lineage continues with his son Jean-François de Troy who was an immense painter.
