"Great Porcelain Ewer, Germany? 19th Century"
Great ewer in porcelain, bright colors, XIXth century and probably from Germany. The piedouche is decorated with intertwined marine monsters; the belly is in motion thanks to the many newts, putti and animals (dolphins): on each side a woman surrounded by a colorful veil breastfeeds a child or plays with putti.
A nymph supporting a shell serves as a handle, the lid is made of a baby riding on a dolphin and blowing in a conch.
Some accidents on this ewer with many characters in relief (heads glued, see photos) and a fele of cooking under the base.
