According to Raphael, Madonna della sedia. The Virgin Mary holds the child Jesus in her arms, both look at the spectator while Saint John the Baptist child, holding his cross, adores the messiah. The Virgin wears a shawl carved on the shoulders, a great tenderness emerges from her look. Beautiful oil on canvas signed L. Jani or (L. Sani?). This big tondo is framed by an important frame carrying its dimensions to 103 on 103 cm. Provenance: Gustave de Beaumont whose name written on the back of the canvas attests the membership. Gustave de Beaumont born in 1802 is a politician, diplomat and writer. A true friend of Alexis de Tocqueville, he studied the penitentiary system in the United States and wrote several books. Despite the success of his books, he will remain in the shadow of his friend's Democracy in America. De Beaumont will be deputy, vice-president of the constituent assembly, ambassador of France in London then in Vienna. Canvas nineteenth century, posterior frame. Dimensions: 103 by 103 cm.
