Large Bronze (74 Cm) Allegory Of Spring Young Girl And Cupid By Auguste Moreau (1834-1917)
Artist: Auguste Moreau (1834-1917)
Large bronzesculpture with a medal patina by AUGUSTE MOREAU 1834-1917 (Sculptor active from1861 to 1906). Student of Mathurin MOREAU, he was a sculptor who producedmainly bronzes. This sculpture, an allegory of Spring with the cherub"Cupid" hidden at her feet, is exquisitely executed in its details, particularly in the rendering of the young girl's drapery's transparency, whichaccentuates her feminine form. An imposing piece of high quality, it is verydecorative due to its graceful movement and large size. Signed on the base"Aug. Moreau," it rests on a rotating base, allowing for easyadjustment of its viewing angle despite the piece's considerable weight.
