Oil on framed wood, vintage XIX, representing the taking of a castle.

Very well treated, beautiful glaze.

Monogram on the left third in red: N K.

Nicaise de Keyser (1813 - 1887) is a Belgian painter of history, portraits, wall compositions.

He contributed to the romantic revival of Belgian art.

He won many medals at exhibitions, notably in Paris in 1839 and in Philadelphia in 1876.

He is exhibited in numerous museums.

Listed in the Bénézit and '' The Little Masters of Painting '' Schurr.

Condition: Good general condition, note a slight transverse crack in the wood at the bottom of the table (see photo).

Some gaps on the gilded wooden frame XIX.

Dimensions with frame: 34 x 33 cm.

Dimensions without: 22 x 19 cm.
