Beautiful ink and wash drawing of the 18th century representing an allegory of music in the form of a brass of musical instruments with harp, sheet music, garlands ...

Perhaps a preparatory drawing for an architectural achievement.
Unsigned.

Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1789) was an architect, ornamentalist and French painter. He is best known for his architectural recollections. He was an important theorist of the Louis XVI "square" style and the beginnings of neo-classicism, and his influence is significant in the decor of Parisian houses in the years 1760-1780.

This little drawing perfectly corresponds to this characteristic style of Delafosse, especially in the poetic elegance of the line, yet strongly marked by classicism and architectural rigor.

Beautiful old wash.
Gilt wood frame.

Some tasks on the inner glass.

Dimensions "at sight".

Former collection of Marquid de B...
