Allegory Of Music, Jean-charles Delafosse, Attributed To, Drawing, 18th Century
Perhaps a preparatory drawing for an architectural achievement.
Unsigned.
Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1789) was an architect, ornamentalist and French painter. He is best known for his architectural recollections. He was an important theorist of the Louis XVI "square" style and the beginnings of neo-classicism, and his influence is significant in the decor of Parisian houses in the years 1760-1780.
This little drawing perfectly corresponds to this characteristic style of Delafosse, especially in the poetic elegance of the line, yet strongly marked by classicism and architectural rigor.
